I suppose so, that sounds different than your last line :P

Calling is by far the worst line here. Raise the flop and shut down against further resistance.

Villain had JJ.

I forgot to mention stats. Villain was 50/10/1 over about 15 hands, which is a small sample size.

Thanks for the replies, interesting to read. I have decided I will raise this flop in future when I am this situation, it makes more sense to me.

Don't you think your line maximized value?

He probably folds the JJ if you raise.

Even though this line might coincidentally maxmize your value in this specific hand, it still is not the right play here in general IMO.

Mike I think the crucial point is whether he folds a weaker hand. Ordinarily with little pre-flop action that might be the case but I believe with the pot already quite big he is more open to accept my flop bet as a bluff and he may call with the intention of checking the turn and river. It's tough. I can think of compelling reasons either way as to whether to raise or call. If he still bets after a flop re-raise then I can fold too.

It did for his situation but the villian obviously played this pretty bad. How often do you see it get 3 bet preflop, Ace hits flop, and villian bets into you on every street without an A?

Most situations raising this flop is correct to fold out better hands. If he had check raised or bet much larger on the flop this would be a fold on the flop.

This is a pretty standard line from small to medium pp's at 25NL actually.

his flop bet is a typical "donk bet" I don't care if I reraised pf with air, I raise this flop bet every single time, no matter what cards I have. You are almost expected to, and if you don't, you are telling your opponent "I am afraid of something on this flop, and you can push me off this hand"
