Default \"tv as a monitor\" assistance needed

Hey guys. I just picked up a 50" samsung HL-T4675S television. It's got a PC input that i have connected to my desktop, but i'm unable to get better than a 1280x720 resolution. I'm pretty sure this TV supports a 1920x1080 resolution, but i am totally clueless on what steps to take to resolve this problem (running Windows Vista).

Thanks for any help.

Hi Bakes,

Is it his TV? http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/Samsung-HL-T4675S.htm

If so, looks like the max resolution is in fact 1280x720 - but it will accept a 1080i HD signal and downscale it to fit

EDIT: you say 50", so maybe listed model number is wrong?

your tv has a processor in it that converts 1080i to 720p.

this sucks for using it as a computer monitor, since you can just send it 720p signals as you need. no need to get stuff converted more than it needs to be.

If your monitor supports 1920x1080, you'll probably need a HDMI->DVI cable to get the best resolution.
