Rocco mentioned something that I think was in Tony's blog in the last two weeks or so. I think this was taped very recently.

The live reveal added nothing, beyond making them look low rent. Horrible choice.

I think the producers wanted to do a live "reveal" after the Ilan "leak" fiasco in season 2.

Yeah, but I'd rather it be done in an emtpy room than look like some middle school musical.

- did Dale take credit for CJ's dish?

[/ QUOTE ]

He said "it was 100% a 50/50 collaboration." I laughed.

[/ QUOTE ]

ditto.
it's like he realized halfway through his comment that he couldn't give cj all the credit.

All,

Pretty good finale. As has been said, a blind judging would have been cool. Also, it is 100% clear now that Al is gay, because Casey is just so hot.

Of course, the one major annoyance I have with this show is that they always seem to do the same thing:

"Dale just completely missed here, shouldn't have gone out on a limb like that, what a disaster"

"Hung really played it safe here w/ this dessert, he really should have tried to wow us more"

I especially found the dessert thing annoying, given the fact that everyone has pretty much always sucked on dessert. It seems like even a dessert of this level is a stretch for most contestants, and therefore this actually IS Hung taking a risk to provide a complete 4-course experience.

Anyway, overall thought it was pretty good.

Most amazing: during the live portion, when asked what the contestants thought, Casey's first words were essentially, "it wasn't my night, I'm not going to win."

The head judge's first words, translated: "You're right."

This show really dispelled some of my cynicism about what may go on behind the scenes.

Well, to be fair, Casey had just watched the episode itself. She had seen the portion of judges' commentary where it was decided that Hung had won 2 courses and Dale had won 2 courses. There was no question that the "tough decision" (which I don't think was actually that tough, but they've got to say it is for TV) was between Dale and Hung.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought Casey's reaction in the original judging lineup, where it looked as if she might cry, made it clear that she knew even then that she was out of it.

I thought their issue was less with the dessert being normal and more with it not logically following the asian/fusion theme of Hung's meal. I don't think that was expressed well in the editing.

Also, I think Dale really impressed me. Clearly the guy has chops.
