Re: Bad fold?
How often do people even take the free card here? I mean I see "free card" flop raises all the time followed by villain betting the turn because he wants to take the pot down UI.

Re: Bad fold?
Yeah, "preventing" free cards is pointless because nobody takes free cards anyways (except me).

Re: Bad fold?
I take free cards all the time, especially when I feel a turn c/r coming.

Re: Bad fold?
Taking free cards on "c/r" turns is fine.
Raising the flop HU with the intention of taking a free card on ANY turn sucks donkeyballs If you have a good draw bet again for FE If you have a good hand bet again for value If you have a marginal hand you cant valuebet dont raise the flop. Pretty basic... |

Re: Bad fold?
Just call down from the flop. Do not donk the turn. Other posters are correct: people dont take free cards, especially heads up.

Re: Bad fold?
maybe "raise for free card" is a bad name for what I'm talking about. mostly I'm talking about situations where you have an equity edge on the flop but it will not be there on a blank turn. I rarely do it heads up although I did last night - KTss on a QsJs5c board, I put in the fifth bet (and would have put in a 7th) with the intention of taking a free river card.

Re: Bad fold?
Ok, my point was just that 3-betting the flop to prevent a villain from taking a free card is not really good imo since villain will very rarely take the free card anyway. I would just call the flop raise and c/c turn and river. I think playing this hand the way OP did makes it hard to play since this villain can have a pretty wide range on the flop and turn even after his raises.
