Club down, swing smoother.

IMO dont bother with knowckdowns unless you can actually play them.

Ball flight has a lot to do with spine angle at impact. Putting the weight on your left tends to level your shoulders and tilt at impact. Personally I have always been a high ball hitter and really have struggled to keep the ball down in the wind. Recently I have gone to taking 2 or more clubs and choking up considerably and holding off my follow through a la Tiger Woods 2 iron stinger. This has made a dramatic impact on my ability to hit wind shots. So often I would hood the club through impact in an effort to deloft the club and I would hit it left a lot into the wind. Now I actually feel I can hold the club open through impact and hit low fades into the wind. The previous poster who said to not use the same club to hit a lower shot gave great advice, that has been my problem for a long time.
