If this game is a limit game, the game is better off with only 1 denomination of chip.

Also make sure you have enough change on hand to cash everyone out at the night's end.

I never understood why someone would tell you to go a denomination of 5 then have a 10 denomination trips me out. Like having a 25 and a 50. Go from 1 to 5 then to 25 and from there you have 100. See example here: 1=purple 5= white 25= green 100 = red.
see now 5 purple = 1 white. 5 white = 1 green, 4 green = 1 red. If you made black be 500 then 5 red = 1 black. etc. |

Regarding change, I like to get rolls of dollar coins. In fact, I've stopped accepting dollar bills from anybody. I hate the things, they're incredibly inefficient. A lot of people grumble, but I love the coins and wish they were more in circulation. But most people see it as a special little thing at my game, you almost always go home with doubloons!

Thanks guys, what would the maximum buying be recommended to be? £2 or £5? If it's £2 it would allow for rebuys i suppose.
We don't play limit, none of my friends like it, and really, i don't think anyone else on these forums do? Why play limit when you can play no limit? I was thinking: Green = 1p and have a max of say 15 of these Red = 2p and have a max of say 15 of these White = 5p and have a max of say 11 of these AND Blue = 10p and have a max of say 10 of these OR Blue = 20p and have a max of 5 of these Does this sound ok or is it flawed? |

Part of the equation depends on how agressive the game will be. How much is likely to be on the table by the end of the night? In general you want to keep the small denomination chips in circulation, so you also will want to buy small denom chips from winners in exchange for the larger chips when you handle rebuys

You're not listening to the good advice in this thread. TrvChBoy: Don't use more than 3 denominations. bacats32: Spread them out: 1, 5, 25.
You could have a 100 chip, but don't give them out initially. -Tom |
