Default Re: ask trying2learn about casino player ratings & the host position

Just got wind of this from a friend on Trip Advisor Las Vegas forum. Great to have you here!
I have a host at MGM. He's the VP of Operations there. TK for short. I'm a very low roller. (Only lost $650 in May and $1000 in June, although I put much more thru the slots which is all I play)I was introduced to him in 2004, when I had problems with cold showers in a Penthouse Suite. He took care of us very well at the end of 04 twice in December.
I contacted him this year, and his assistant took care of us very well again. But because I'm a very low roller, this last trip I was given the rack rate for the room. Which was what I deserved.(Although she added best upgrade available which turned into the Hollywood Suite, 3 bumps from the Grand Tower room) Kim, the assistant, said she was only on the hotel side and to maybe call the marketing department to see if they can offer me better rates.
First....is there a hotel side and a gambling side to comps?
And I've been told that if you call and ask for a host from the marketing dept, that you can get a real host, or a person they pay just to handle low rollers. Is there a huge difference in hosts you can receive?
Forgive me if this question has been asked. I couldn't make it through every single question.
Thank you.
