why did you only raise pf to 7800? Why not 10-11,000 and make him sweat a bit more? As played, good fold.

[/ QUOTE ]

raising to 10-11k is not as good as raising to 7800

I am sure that 99% of good MTT posters here would agree that opening for 2.5-3 bbs late in a $2600 tournament > opening to 3.5-4 bbs

Hi I'm very new on here, so am prepared to get destroyed for my view on this!!!

But here's my two penneth:

I'd treat his 5k on the flop as a simple probe. He might be a donk, but he might have also read a book and figured he can (nervously) try and take the pot with a probe (he knows his stack is intimidating).

To call stinks of weakness.
Folding justifiable if you really think he has the Ace.

I'd opt to raise it up to about 25k and see what he does with that. If he re-raises I'm dropping it and know that I still have 50k to play with (M of 11ish...)

If he calls, well, decision time!!!! Like the chap above said - use the time bank and see if u can get some info from hand history. With 60 something grand in the pot its then either check or push. I'd be very nervous at this point though and suspect he's a donk playing an Ace, so would probably take the weak play and see if I can get a free card...

I was watching this villain most of the tournament and I agree, although I like a flop raise more.

Hi Fgators,

That flop bet is a draw or air from a donk, pretty much always, and sometimes a medium Ace, which he may or may not fold. It is not a set, coming from a bad loose player. The only kind of bad player that will lead there with a set is the super-tight, super ABC guy who "just wants to take it down now" with his monster. The tiny turn bet confirms that he indeed has a draw, or a hand that he intends to fold to a lot of heat.

In a cash game, I'll call, and then test the small turn bet with a medium raise. If he doesn't repop, I'm all-in on the river (to move out the medium Ace), assuming the likely draws miss.

In a tournament with just an average stack, I'm more likely to just fold the flop, because I don't have the luxury of finding out if he'll fold AT/A5, or if this is one time in a million where the donk actually has 2 pair+.

What do you think?

I mean the guy might be kind of clueless on hand reading and what lines to take but I think anybody can tell I've been tight at the table. This is what betgo was kind of mentioning...the fact that he feels small bets can get me off hands rather easily.

Is this really bad that if the turn was under a 10 I'd likely call again?

ActionJeff,

are you talking about watching villain in this hand (his sn was something like Ibluffyouout)
