Re: Poker After Dark thread (Week of 9/24 - Rivals Week)
[ QUOTE ]
didn't he have 6 outs? 3 aces for higher pair and 3 queens to straight up [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure that there are 4 queens in a deck. So it would be 3 Aces to make a higher pair and 4 queens for a straight = 7 Outs. |

[ QUOTE ] who was DN talking about who made a fool out of themselves last season? [/ QUOTE ] Hellmuth has to be one for sure. Doyle Brunson was not on form either in all of his appearances. [/ QUOTE ] I think the odds of Dan referring to Doyle there are close to zero Hellmuth was obviously one, yeah. [ QUOTE ] I agree about it being one of the most entertaining matches to date. It even has a small Hellmuth blowup. Kind of surprised the thread isn't getting more love, doesn't even have half the posts from the week before. Would highly recommend watching it online if people haven't already done so. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed, this was the most entertaining week of PAD I've seen yet. There was a lot more talk here than even on Ladies' week. I mean, I don't think it was even that close. |

Re: Poker After Dark thread (Week of 9/24 - Rivals Week)
I hope PAD doesn't ever invite Laak again. There is a difference between being goofy in an entertaining way, and being goofy in a way that gives other people headaches and aneurysms. Laak is firmly in the Brenes category, he makes every show he's in considerably less watchable. You know you're unlikeable when people are actually rooting for Sheikhan.

BTW, what was up with Antonio's shove with K8 into the pot-committed Laak? Did he just throw it or something? What did he expect to beat?

I think he read Phil as weak and thought he would fold. No other explanation I can fathom.

What can Phil fold at those odds?

Re: Poker After Dark thread (Week of 9/24 - Rivals Week)
What are the chances of Antonio chip dumping to Phil with K8 vs KQ? They were both short compared to Shawn. They are best friends. In real life I have a hard time playing against two friends at the table without being a little suspicious.

[/ QUOTE ] Antonio was the short stack, it was 3-handed, and he'd been a bit card dead -- and was probably steaming from his A2 vs. Sheik's trip 4s. He figured his K8 at least had live cards and was no worse than a 60-40 dog. Time to gamble. |

Laak is such a douche. I feel so sorry for the dealers when he plays. I assume he gets thrown out of the casino for the [censored] he pulls on tv.

In real life I have a hard time playing against two friends at the table without being a little suspicious. [/ QUOTE ] Chip dumping is the first thought that occurred to me. Sheiky was actually not playing weak tight for a change, and was putting his chip stack to good use. I guess that Phil+Antonio stack had more equity at that point than the two short stacks alone. Then again, I've seen Jesus or Gus call all-in with less, so we shouldn't overestimate the players. |
