100NL: Turned boat
100NL online
Hero ($120) limps UTG+1 with 7d-7h Folds around to MP ($110) who raises to $3.50 Folds around to SB, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls Flop 4s-3s-3c (Pot: $11) BB checks, Hero checks, MP checks Turn 4s-3s-3c-7c (Pot: $11) BB checks, Hero bets $5, MP raises to $15, BB folds, Hero? Obviously the question here is call or reraise. The villain here was somewhat active at the table, and I made a weak-looking feeler sort of bet here on purpose hoping it'd be interpreted in just that way. Thoughts? Also, I've just started at 100NL after grinding through 25NL and 50NL after consistently beating them both, so any general advice about the transition is more than welcome here (I've read all of the essential threads and such, just putting this information out there) |

Re: 100NL: Turned boat
I think you should be raising preflop. Check the flop is standard though as is the turn lead (although I make it $8). I think I would pop it up to $35 in hopes of getting stacks in on the river.

Re: 100NL: Turned boat
I agree with the raise on the turn. Unless they're just taking a stab at the pot you will get a lot of money here. I think it's played fine up to there.

Re: 100NL: Turned boat
I don't mind the limp at all.
1) It disguises your hand when you wanna limp/3-bet AA or KK. 2) If you raise and get 3-bet, you'll have to let it go, denying yourself huge implied odds when you flop a set vs. an overpair. On the turn, depends. Against a lag I raise, cause he'll call anyway. A TAG will bet the river with his overpair, but might fold to a 3-bet, so I just call, and CRAI after he commits himself on the river. Against a semi-weak tight, I probably 3 bet here, hoping he'll mak a reflex call and then I bet big on the river. If he's really weak, I might just call here and make a $25 suck bet on the river. |

[/ QUOTE ] QFT I don't know why people are pushing for raising small/mid pairs from EP, especially in full ring. Occasionally, fine, to mix it up so villains can't peg you on obvious limping hands like small pairs and SC's, but I don't like doing that as a regular practice. Now, in later positions, I'm much more comfortable raising a hand like 7-7 (depending on previous action of course). |

1) It disguises your hand when you wanna limp/3-bet AA or KK. [/ QUOTE ]This is almost irrelevant. If you limp/raise people put you on KK/AA maybe QQ/AK so you should be more likely to limp/raise 77 than KK because there is no deception in limp/raising KK. Sure you can limp/raise and take the 4-6bbs in the pot w/AA/KK or make a big pot but more often you're giving away your hand and on average are going to make less money playing that way than straight forward. Re: 100NL: Turned boat
Which is why I do pull out the limp-reraise on certain occasions with a hand that is not AA-QQ, AK.
On this hand I just flat called his raise on the turn. The river came the Ks. 4s-3s-3c-7c-Ks I checked the river and villain bet $25. I raised it to $70. After a long think villain gave the whole "every damn time this happens" venting and folded in frustration. Based on that, it's possible he had the 3 although he could just have been posturing. Had the river not come a spade or club, I'd probably be stacking him. If I raised the turn, maybe the all the money gets in, maybe not. |
