if they charge you for say $200, offer them $600 instead, if they decline, run away.

In Cali, you can have a 'trial by written declaration' and have the case dismissed by the judge if he sides with you. If the judge sides with the officer, you can have up to one re-trail. Read the back of your ticket for all details.
