Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
I'm pretty sure at one point they did specifically tell them that over these next 8 weeks you'll grow and blah blah blah, most reality shows never mention the time frame but this one specifically did. Whether they were referring to the broadcast duration or the actual duration was unclear, but it's more confusing than most.

Like I said in a previous reply, Mystery has trashed some good material. So if he makes another season, that fact might blow up in his face. [/ QUOTE ] What do you mean by this? That Mystery is using material that, he, himself, needs to use in order to be successful? He could give away his whole XXX routine stack (I dno how many he currently uses, I'd guess over 100 routines) and still be able to use most of them and/or just come up with different stuff v v quickly/easily. It's incredibly difficult for Mystery or another guru to shoot himself in the foot b/c there are only so many guys they can work 1 on 1 with who will get to the level of being on par in terms of being real, direct competition. [/ QUOTE ]I'm not the one you asked, but I took it to mean that, now that he has revealed a small portion of his routine to the public, others won't be able to use that material because they'll know it's a line. (I believe that one of the aspects of the openers is that it doesn't sound like a "line," therefore the target is caught off guard. But now people will realize that it is a line.) E.g., maybe now, girls will be wary if someone comes up to them asking about flossing or if they saw a fight outside over a guy named George. |

Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
Anyone who's too dumb to come up with their own silly little opener deserves to get called out on it, it's pretty clear that the exact wording isn't important but your body language and tone are.

[/ QUOTE ] a friend of mine works for VH1 and I inquired about the show a while back. If you check a few hundred replies ago I said that KOSMO wins as well as most of the [censored] on the show was staged and over 1/2 of the contestants were actors/models/theater actors, etc... basically show is totally fake with fake exchanges with females as well. |

2. I would pay $1500 or whatever it is for Mystery's weekend course. He seems like a cool dude and I would learn a ton. [/ QUOTE ] Mystery's weekend course would be like $6,000 now. Pretty sure just going to a Matador course is now at least $4,000. |

Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
I just started reading the game by Style (Neil Strauss)... WTF? I'm about halfway through and mystery seems like a [censored] up guy. ALso, lol that 1.5k would buy you a 2 instructors for 1 student package (for a few days) back when they were not known but now it's that much if those are anywhere near the actual prices.

Yugoslav [/ QUOTE ] I'm not saying that Mystery has blown out his routine stack. What I am saying is that most of his Noob material and canned routines are bout half worthless now. Examples: ANY opinion based opener, ESP routines, piles of classic negs, best friends test, and various kiss close gambits. Yugoslav, you seem like you are prolly very familiar with PU material, from your previous posts, and I appreciate your optimism. I truly hope that you are right and I am wrong, given that I am just a RAFC at this point. However, after the premier of this show, I have had at least 15-20% of sets respond with "isnt that from the Pickup Artist?" during some phase of the interaction, even though I was positive that it wasnt. I knew that it did have some of the same feel as Mystery's material, BUT I WROTE IT!! Anyway, I still think that the MM routines and openers are all but dead for anyone inexpericed enough to use them while starting out. So if Mystery does another season, hes gonna have to come up with a whole new routine stack for Noobs, who will have additional stress worrying about getting called out on being full of [censored]. AA starting out is enough without that to worry about. |
