I have smelled cigarettes for 3 days now
I have had the smell of cigarettes somehow embedded into my olfactory glands, for 3 days now. This is not the first time this has happened to me.
Occasionally, I will somehow get the smell of cigarettes stuck in my shnoz, and it will last for a good day or two. I am on day three now, with this bout. I don't know how or why this happens, but it's real. My wife thinks I am crazy. I am not a smoker, and I don't go to bars. I am seldom around smokers. My home is smoke-free. However, 3 days ago I was in NYC, and I met up with some co-workers who were on the street having a smoke. I stood near them, chatting for only a few minutes before we went inside. I have since showered 3 times, and changed my clothes several times. Yet the scent remains. It's literally INSIDE my nose - not on my clothes, not on the clothes of a person near me. I smell it as I type this. Is it possible for a smell to stay with you for literally days like this? It doesn't happen with any other type of strong smell, such as garlic, gasoline, or entrails. It's just cigarettes. Am I crazy? |

No, you're likely not crazy. But this is far from normal. I think it's time to see a doctor.

Re: I have smelled cigarettes for 3 days now
You could try to cleanse your palette by taking a few deep sniffs of some coffee beans....but if this is still with you after three days I can't imagine that taking care of it.
And, seriously, this is good advice... [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] |
