NL500: 4 stack-offs preflop with good hands
Background for all hands has been that even though I'm only playing 20/16.5/4.1 I've been a bit tilty and thus aggro preflop and especially postflop (51.6% won when saw flop). I have suspicion that all villains in these hands have noticed that and may be getting frustrated, but no confirmation.
That said, please rate these from 1 (monkey spew) to 10 (excellent). Any further comments are also much appreciated. Hand 1. AJs in blind battle. NL500. 6-handed. Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and $518. BB is 30/16.6/2.3(2.5k) and covers. 4 folds, Hero raises to $20, BB raises to $60, Hero shoves. Hand 2. QQ BTN vs. SB NL500. 6-handed. Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB is 27/21/5.25(222) with $495, Hero covers. 3 folds, Hero raises to $17.50, SB raises to $62, Hero shoves. Hand 3. AQs: who steals the dead money? NL500. 6-handed. Hero is BTN with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and $492.50, SB is 19/8.5/2.7(2.5k) and covers. I very strongly suspect he is playing back at me lots and also 3betting me light despite his stats, but I have no showdown proof though. MP posts out of turn $7.5, UTG limps, MP checks, CO limps, Hero raises to $35, SB raises to $127.50, Hero shoves. Hand 4. QQ UTG vs. CO NL500. 5-handed. Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO is 18/13.5/2.25(1.6k) and has $492.50, but despite stats has definitely been 3betting actively and playing very aggro; has a 2+2ish screen name. Hero raises to $17.50, MP folds, CO raises to $60, 2 folds, Hero raises to $130, CO raises to $260, Hero shoves. |

Re: NL500: 4 stack-offs preflop with good hands
your bet sizing is pretty bad across the board. specifically super overbet shoving in 1 and 2 is retarded.
3 appears ok wrt bet sizing, but dudes stats may get me to fold the AQ - could be completely fine in many games - would need to know table dynamics firsthand. the last one is very situation dependent - i think your 4 bet should be more like 150 - 160, and like do people min 5 bet bluff utg opens much in these games? has anyone in the universe ever played JJ like that? |

Hand 2 I'm repping AK hoping smaller PPs call.

Re: NL500: 4 stack-offs preflop with good hands
Hand 1 is fine imo if 4-bet shoving in these kind of spots is standard for you. If you're gonna commit with AJs you might as well shove to fold out JJ/AQ etc.
Hand 2 Unless he calls lighter than JJ I prefer a call/ non committing 4-bet to let him shove worse hands than QQ. Hand 3 I'd go with your read and stick it in because of all the dead money and the fact that SB will probably be 3-betting you lighter in this spot. Hand 4 If you're gonna 4-bet here you have to get it in imo. Turning your QQ into a bluff by 4betting and folding with 100BB is just bad. I also prefer a slightly larger 4-bet (150-160). |

You do realize you're allowed to call 3-bets? Good god, I don't see why you're so eager to guarantee losing the max against all better hands.

Re: NL500: 4 stack-offs preflop with good hands
Results:
Hand 1 - AA Hand 2 - AA Hand 3 - KK Hand 4 - ATo (he later said he expected me to fold QQ to a min-5bet) So in one case my read was good; in all others either my reads were off or I ran into the top of their ranges. On reflection: Hand 1 is probably a call (a 4bet turns the hand into a bluff). Hand 2 I don't mind to provide cover for AK sometimes (especially since I'm likely to call to trap with KK+), but it would usually be a smaller 4bet to provide cover for my light 4bets and calling a shove. Hand 3 I'm still very much unsure of, I think shoving and folding have close EV. Hand 4 is fine as played. |
