Re: 2/4 weird preflop spot with JJ
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Allowing him to play perfectly post-flop with overs, a good part of his range. [/ QUOTE ] wtf? [/ QUOTE ] Overcalling with AK then c/fing a whiffed flop is actually +EV here if you just call the $183. Not much, and its definitely not the best way to play it. But my point is that by calling you make villain play correctly. |

Re: 2/4 weird preflop spot with JJ
Are you guys talking about calling the initial raise or calling MP2s AI? IMO...
Calling first raise = OK. Calling MP2s AI = NOT SO OK. |

Re: 2/4 weird preflop spot with JJ
I think it is good. You can fold out QQ alot, as well as AK/AQ. I definitely prefer shoving to calling.
Honestly though, I'm interested to know what you were putting half-stack on. I think you made the right read here but against a truly unknown methinks I am folding JJ. Hmmm. If AK/AQ are a big part of halfies range, does it become better to call? The extra money if UTG comes along probably makes up for the times you have to fold since you probably aren't winning if overcards flop anyway. If its safe you can just shove, and if he bets into you can easily fold. |

But my point is that by calling you make villain play correctly. [/ QUOTE ] And this is simply not correct. Calling here doesn't suddenly make Villain go "Ah-ha! He has JJ, I'll NEVER EVER TRY AND BLUFF HIM" If you allow yourself to be played PERFECTLY postflop you need to work on your game. |

Re: 2/4 weird preflop spot with JJ
I think your statement is baseless. Why would calling PF with JJ suddenly let Villain play perfectly with overs? Villain's don't bluff missed flops? How is raising PF with JJ some magical play that won't let Villain play perfectly?

I play it the same, GM. Shoving >>> calling.
