I was not arguing to check the river. I completely agree that checking the river is a bad play and as you said it is one of the easiest rying to value bets you'll see.
The OP wanted to know if it was a scared river play. All I was trying to say was that the river card scared the villain MORE than it did/should have scared him. |

it is scared because he FEARED the FLUSH and checked because he was scared.

Can't we 3bet this flop? It protects our hand. By building a bigger pot we may get looser play from this villain on the later streets. Also, he may have checked the turn denying us the big bet we hoped for?

I agree with QE's play there of just calling. The read he had on him seemed pretty strong and it was just fine to call.
