Hero checks, Button checks.

River: ($195) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $111, Hero ???

Final Pot: $306

Villain is 54/43 over this headsup session, raising on the button about everytime. We've played like 50 hands and I've been getting the best of him: making moves on him and outplaying him postflop. It felt like he was ready to make a move soon. I called the flop raise to reevaluate on the turn and most likely fold if he followed up with more aggression. Once he checked behind the flop, I couldn't think of a legit hand he could have that raised me on the flop (2pair+). But still a nasty river, what to do? Comments on all streets welcomed.

feels like he backed into a straight with 78 or 89

im pretty sure you were ahead on flop...i definitely would have check/shoved the turn if he bets...as played your begging him to bluff so its gotta be a call

id stack off on the flop a lot here

the river is close, a call is reasonable IMO.

hes 54/43 and possibly ready to make a move and we are looking to c/f this turn?

c/rai > c/f turn here
and you arent deep enough to c/c turn and then play the river

lol at calling the river here, the hands that we are ahead of on the flop are stuff like 78 89 9T TJ kinda crap, or 88 TT - all of which we are behind now (and others which we have been behind since the flop)

so unless this is a pure bluff we are losing, i dont see him playing QJ like this

i dont think this is a pure bluff 1/4 of the time

There is no way you can call this river. Almost everything he could conceivably have beats you.

54/43 is fairly standard hu.

Agree w/ your other thoughts though.

Op, I cant imagine folding river when your hand is one of the top parts of your range and villains line is so bluffy and a good scare card has fallen for him even if there are alot of 8x combos he could have.
