$11 NLTRN - TP w/36o facing min-RR - unsure of this one
This is the 4th hand, first 3 went like this:
1. I raise Q5o, he calls, I cbet, he folds 2. He raises, I fold 38o 3. I raise A6o, he folds Blinds: t10/t20 2 players Stack sizes: SB: t1440 Hero: t1560 Pre-flop: (2 players) Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB calls t10 (pot was t30), Hero checks. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t40, 2 players) Hero checks, SB bets t60, Hero raises to t180, SB raises to t300, Hero ??? Pretty much readless (unless you consider a -3% SS ROI at an average stake of $22 over 400 games to be a read), I'd assume that the RR means he has at least a pair, or at the very least a strong draw. The problem is, I'm not sure how much to expect this means a bluff. The PF limp makes me think it's not a premium hand, but he could have very easily limped a hand that had me beat, including small PP's and weak A's, K's, Q's, J's, etc. My flop raise feels ok, because he's just overbet a small pot, which is often code for "you don't really want it, it's a tiny pot, just give it to me and move on." Do Villains bet sets like this? Overpairs? Am I being confused by nothing and this is in fact an easy fold? Gah. |

As played, I would call the reraise to 300 and fold the turn if you don't improve.
Start leading out on these flops. |

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] You're going to call out of position, and check/fold unless you hit a 4 or a 6? (No, I don't count a 3 as an out - well, to the extent it is, it is offset by the fact that 6s may not be outs) This has to be wrong. I don't think you're ahead often enough here to push, and you certainly shouldn't be calling with the intention of folding - you don't have the odds, implied or actual. |

If OP leads flop for 30 chips and gets raised to 100 he can flat call and reassess turn.
As played, I dont know which is better really between calling the raise to 300 or just folding. You are right about implied/actual odds. This is a pretty good example of why you need to just lead these flops and not get fancy. |

Re: $11 NLTRN - TP w/36o facing min-RR - unsure of this one
I agree about leading - at this stage of the game, there's no call for a c/r all-in "f***-off" line, and a normal c/r doesn't get a fold often enough given that there aren't many turn cards you like.
As played, I think you have to fold. The conversation has gone something like: "I haven't got anything"; "I like this flop"; "Aha! I do actually have something pretty good - so how much do you like this flop?"; "I love it, and want you to commit some more of your chips so I can win them". You can't push low TP + gutshot here, and you can't call for the reasons I've mentioned. So you have to fold. |

Re: $11 NLTRN - TP w/36o facing min-RR - unsure of this one
Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.
I know I need to get more comfortable with leading OOP. For bizarre, illogical reasons, I'm more comfortable doing that with a hand that's missed (KT-ish) than one that's hit but is vulnerable. And I'd guess check-calling is bad because it defines my hand too clearly? Or are there other reasons as well? |
