20/40 game at the local casino (I never post in med. stakes, so I figure I'll post here). 8 handed, UTG likes playing a lot of hands preflop but is total LP, checks JJ w/ an overcard on the board the whole way down. Hasn't gotten out of line at all.
Anyways, UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, folds around, I limp from SB w/ T7o, BB checks his option. T-T-5 flop 2 dia, I have no diamond. I lead for $20, BB folds, UTG raises (I put him on a small pair here, 66-88, I think he raises 99 pre, he talked about how he really likes 99), maybe he has A5 (limps w/ lots of AX hands)). I just call. T-T-5-6 still 2 diamonds. I check, UTG bets $40, I raise to $80, he quick reraises to $120...I'm pretty sure I am beat here, either a 2 outer just got home, or I'm way behind against JT,QT,etc...is the play to call here (getting 9 to 1) and just c/f any river I don't improve on...or c/c or just fold here? |

Dude, call down.
I'd advise not playing 20-40 if you're really having a tough time here with stuff like this. |

folding is terrible, just get to showdown and raise if you boat or quad up

Preflop: I usually get yelled at for saying this but I think unless you can play well postflop that non-big card unsuited hands should be folded in the SB.
Flop: I have no clue why you would think he has a 77 type hand based upon your read. Calling here is fine though. Turn: I'm confused by your raise. If he has the 77 type hand why do you want to blow him out of the hand? If he has a T then it's significantly likely that he has you beat right now and of course he isn't folding. You folding now or on the river is bloody awful. |

call and look for the river to pair, or to catch a 7 or a ten. CF river UI depending on how loose he is. If he's very very loose he could have your same hand or an even worse suited ten. That's probably pretty damn unlikely though. If he has like 90% vpip, I showdown. Otherwise, CF river UI is best imo.

Completing in the SB for a 1/2 BB bet with T7o after two limpers is just awful, no matter how badly your opponents play.

@ OP
Whatever preflop. I would play it as well. Dont listen to anyone claiming its "awful" or a "huge" mistake. Just dont do it if BB raises a lot. You cant fold the turn ever. You say you are way behind to QT, JT. Thats not true. If he has Tx with a better kicker you have 3 5's and 3 6's to a chop and 3 7's to a win. Thats 6 outs. Likewise if he has 55 you have 2 6's, 3 7's and 1 T to a win. 6 outs. You are getting about 9:1 on the turn right? Given that you have quite a few outs when behind you have to call. If you dont improve you have a crying call on the river. |
