On a scale of 1-10, how stupid is this?
Villain is 24/18, very aggressive stealing and on flop. He has no way of knowing this, but about once per 10k hands, I'll limp RR aces from EP, and that's pretty much the only hand I ever do it with. I wanted to try it with AK once, like, I dunno, just because.

gotta bet the flop if you want to rep big, but i'd probably just c/f this flop. I think it completely nailed his range, and he's never folding queens or better.

Re: On a scale of 1-10, how stupid is this?
Yeah, it felt like tilt spew when I did it. So I was dumbfounded:
*** FLOP *** [9h Js Ts] FristSux checks fededisc has 15 seconds left to act fededisc bets $120 FristSux raises to $515.45, and is all in fededisc has 15 seconds left to act fededisc: lol... fededisc: did you limp RR aces? fededisc is sitting out fededisc has timed out fededisc folds Only thing I can think of is he made an ill-advised bet with AK-AT/underpair. Would this be less gross on a JT3 board? I'm thinking someone might actually fold QQ there (and 88/99). With regards to leading out, my gut feeling is that it would not have worked. Like you said, this board hits his range in the face, and no one believes a cbet. A CR shove after a limp RR would looks so ridiculous that I thought it might be more believable, which doesn't make a lick of sense when I type it, lol, but that's what occurred to me in the moment. Like, I'd have to be insane not to have AA here. |

Re: On a scale of 1-10, how stupid is this?
If I pulled this move pre and got a nicer flop, i'd probably 1/2 pot flop and shove turn to maximize my representation of aces and thus FE.
I think a c/r just looks so goofy that most players will make a curious call (unless of course they have some nonsense hand themself) |

When you say nicer flop, do you mean rags, or do you like having two broadway cards to give you the extra gutshot equity?

Pretty stupid. The problem is your folding equity sucks for all the hands he bets here. Most hands he bets here arent going to fold when you push.

When you say nicer flop, do you mean rags, or do you like having two broadway cards to give you the extra gutshot equity? [/ QUOTE ] rags are great, a lone J or T or whatever is cool. But I think the gutter equity of 2 broadways isnt particularly great because of the increased chance of him being way way ahead with a set. I didn't do any math or anything, but that seems about right to me. |
