Brag: freerollin\' 10 grand
Caesars Palace had a freeroll tourney today for anyone with 60+ hours of live play in August. 300 or so qualified with about 280 showing up. It was advertised that the last 15 players would win a $10,000 seat into the "Ceasars Palace Classic" main event tourney, but when we began they announced that they would instead award 20 seats.
Brag: I won my seat. Beat: The guy next to me with an average chip stack insta-called an all-in from the small blind with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], being eliminated in 24th place. We all talked about it with stunned disbelief until the tounament ended. Variance (?): This is the Inaugural Ceasars Palace Classic-- the first ever. Yes, they advertise it as the inaugural classic. because they call it an inaugural classic, which is also fine but sounds odd since classic can have different meanings.

I am not allowed to sell the seat, or believe me I would. If I were to win a second seat, in a satellite or other promotion, I could sell that one, but I must play at least one.

A yearly staple. An indispensible piece of local tradition. And it's the first one. I can't be the only one who finds this weird. "Inaugural classic" is like "amateur Nobel laureate" or "well-bankrolled Matusow." Oxymoronic.
