How badly did I play this hand
To start I am a a very tight, conservative player.
And Villain is a very aggressive bluffer. Blinds 100/200 final table 18 person SnG Pokerstars Dealt to “Hero” [Kd Ad] “Villain” (5460 in chips) Seat 3: calls 200 Seat 4: folds “Hero” (2065 in chips) seat 6: raises 600 to 800 Seat 8: folds Seat 9: folds Seat 1: folds Villain: calls 600 *** FLOP *** [Qs Tc 7s] Villain: bets 1400 Hero: calls 1265 and is all-in *** TURN *** [Qs Tc 7s] [Ah] *** RIVER *** [Qs Tc 7s Ah] [4s] *** SHOW DOWN *** Villain: shows [Qd Td] (two pair, Queens and Tens) Hero: shows [Kd Ad] (a pair of Aces) Villain collected 4430 from pot Was it dumber for me to call his all-in or for him call my raise with Q-10s. Or were both so bad that we should be marched through the street as an example to others. Thanks in advance |

Re: How badly did I play this hand
when you raise preflop, you put almost half of your stack in. that's not good. if you raise all-in, you have more fold equity from that kind of hands that called you in this case. futhermore, when you go all in and someone calls, you get to see ALL five community cards, not just the flop.
as played i probably fold flop. matematicly you're not getting the right price. since he's a bluffer, as you say, the call isn't bad though. but the main lesson here is that you should have went all-in in the first place. |

Re: How badly did I play this hand
Thanks Karlwig
I suspected I should have went all-in to start. I had a bad feeling that I didn't right after I bet. Unfortunately you can't re-raise yourself. Also, could you explain or point me to more about "fold equity". Thanks |

Re: How badly did I play this hand
Fold equity is how much pressure you put your opponents on to fold. Or the chances of a bet picking up the pot here and now.
EG 1, You are the BB and there are 5 limpers, You raise the minimum - to 2XBB. Here you have zero fold equity, as you have no chance of picking the pot up. EG 2, You are the BB and it is folded to the SB who just calls. You are both holding very big stacks, and you push all-in. Here you have masses of fold equity, you have a massive chance of picking the pot up as villain can only call with AA, maybe KK, very little else depending upon the player. |
