I hear the director's cut of this movie is amazing. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet though.

I was pretty disappointed in the director's cut. It makes explicit a lot of stuff, especially the trippy time-travel metaphysics, which I thought was much better left elliptical and sketchy.

I like the movie a lot. The original version seems to me to be an slightly askew and twisted meditation on the heightened state of "meaning" that characterizes adolescence; that weird "i'm the center of the universe", "everything's connected" and "where do I fit in" spectrum. I watched the director's cut and thought, omg, this is supposed to be a sci-fi movie.
