Odd / weird foods you eat, most people haven\'t heard of
With the ethnic diversity in this group, I think this may have potential. (Title says it all)
My mom's side of the family is a good chunk Polish, residing in Northern Michigan. Every time we went up there for the holidays when I was a kid, we would play euchre and eat pickled bologna. It is about a 2" diameter bologna sold in rings, that if straightened would be about 12-14 inches long. Kogel's is the most popular brand up there, but living in Chicagoland, I cant find it unless I get into eastern Michigan. (Detroit area) We usually cut it in 1/4 inch slices (about the size of 2 or 3 poker chips) and ate it on a saltine cracker. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM gooooooood. Anyone else ever have this? I'm looking forward to the asian oddities and delicacies, as well as the eastern european stuff. If you can provide places they are available online or speciality stores you know of, please post that too. gogogogogogo |

istewart is that really you?
Jamaican beef patties. They're not odd but they're really good and I don't think most people have heard of them. |

I ate fried squirrel at an extended family get-together. Rural Missouri. Hunt that day. It tasted very good. Completely plausible as a main course.
Maybe squirrel isn't weird. |

Re: Odd / weird foods you eat, most people haven\'t heard of
I eat the standard jewish foods like chopped liver and gefilte fish. My girlfriend eats aged, salted duck eggs, dried squid, pig feet, chicken feet and seaweed with just about anything and by itself. I am sure there are many more things I am missing. I like eel but I don't think that is very odd as well.

Re: Odd / weird foods you eat, most people haven\'t heard of
there is nothing odd or weird or unusual about jamaican patties
i would say the oddest thing i eat is peanut butter and honey sandwiches. i also dip potato chips in ketchup which people seem to think is very odd, but it makes perfect sense. |

Not sure about in the states but up in Canada Jamaican patties are standard fare, and also delicious.
I eat weird [censored], just whatever I have on hand, and usually enjoy most of it. I recently grossed out my sister when I was visiting and hungry, and made a bowl of rice, bananas, leftover chicken, boiled egg, and tabasco. It tasted pretty good |
