NL10: flopped nut straight
First time posting to 2+2, so please give feedback on info/format/etc....
No reads on opponents (table going to flop ~45% of the time when I joined maybe 25 hands prior). Concerned with flush draw which is why I bet pot on the flop to prevent giving odds. Thoughts? Re: NL10: flopped nut straight
Instead of stating the obvious, I'm going to try something new and ask: how else would you have considered playing this hand?

Re: NL10: flopped nut straight
Flop decision was either to bet pot or push given my stack size

Re: NL10: flopped nut straight
Welcome.
First off, I would raise more pf to like 0.45 considering you already have a limper in front of you and you would not mind giving your opponents with position less incentive to play. This will also make the postflop pot a little larger, making it easy as pie to commit if you connect. On the flop I dont think you need to bet quite so much here. I go with 1.2-1.3. I know that you are concerned with flush, but given your short stack, anyone with a flush draw is making a marginal call to hit flush anyway. Turn push is good. Anyone disagree with my assessment? Last ofall, why are you midstacked here? Are you short stacking on purpose? If not I think you need to reload to full stack. 10 NL is full of horrible players and you will be higher EV full stacked. P.S. Do u have pokertracker. If not I highly suggest making the 55 dollar investment. |

Re: NL10: flopped nut straight
Thanks for the info, toymach.
- I was varying my pfr amount with AK as I played a hand earlier with AK and raised to that amount with one limper. - I bought in at $4; I've got a small bankroll and am just starting on FTP NL10 from grinding through UltimateBet NL02. - I've gone through the PT free trial and was going to wait until the new version came out to purchase. |

Re: NL10: flopped nut straight
no problem.
[ QUOTE ] - I was varying my pfr amount with AK as I played a hand earlier with AK and raised to that amount with one limper. [/ QUOTE ] Although varying pf raise sizes is important when playing observant opponents, you opponents at 10NL are not observant at all. In fact they are downright clueless. As a result, I tend to focus my pf raise sizing at this limit on utilitarian purposes, taking position, # of limpers, stack sizes, and postflop SPR's into consideration. This is pretty mechanical, but important, especially if you are multitabling. When you move u move up in limits and encounter at least fairly competent players, varying raise sizes for deception purposes will become more important. For now I would suggest focusing more on these issues first. |
