As a side note, that's pretty awesome that this hypothetical was even constructed to be results oriented, with a king spiking the river.

I think im just going to crawl into a hole now. I'll see you later. [/ QUOTE ] It's OK man. It's just a crazy question. You don't want people to fold when you have AA almost ever. You have to construct a bizarre scenario to make it make sense. Like, you owe a bookie $20k, and he's going to kill you unless you pay him $20k right after the tournament. There's 3 people left, and you have AA, and they both go all in with equal stacks and have you covered. If you bust 3rd, you'll only get 10k as a prize, and the bookie will kill you. If you come in 2nd or 1st, you will get at least 20k and be able to pay the bookie. Then you can fold AA. Or, in this case, lets say there was a 4th guy who was contemplating a call, you could flash him your cards so he didn't call with his KK to decrease your chances of being killed by the bookie. Maybe. |

[ QUOTE ] What is your question? If you should show your hand? That would be cheating, so I can't believe that would be you question, so what is your question? [/ QUOTE ] I think he wants to know if he should still play poker. Why else would someone consider folding AA preflop? Play nice. It's not his fault God made him allergic to good decisions. The basic concept was... two choices
Choice #1: For sure in the money, with a medium size stack or a very large stack. Choice #2: Busted out with nothing or In the money with a very very large stack. I didn't know that you couldn't show your hand, as long as you showed it to everyone. So I guess its a stupid question. And yes, the last part was stupid about the king spiking, I just meant that there is a 20% chance of it saving you from tragically busting out on the bubble with a huge stack after having come so far in your first major tournament. |

Most of us would rather be ITM with a huge stack than limp in with an average stack. Accumulating a lot of chips around bubble time is HUGELY +EV because you can really bully people around when they are more concerned about limping up a few payout spots, which many people would be in a major tournament.
