Primate,

How do you make the decision when you are committed to a hand? I have an idea intuitively but do you think you could explain it to me a bit more logically/mathematically?

According to "Professional No Limit Hold'em" by placing more than a 1/3 of your stack into the pot and then folding, you stand to lose more in the long run. Obv based on a reasonable read of your opponent and the board. Once you cross this threshold you should not really be folding your hand.
There are execptions. i.e fish that always chases flushes and flush hits on turn and you know for sure hes got it.
Don't have the maths but I'm sure somebody might have something handy.
