Note that when paying time you get more hands in per hour at the Borgata due to all tables having the auto-shufflers.

[/ QUOTE ]

Most TAJ tables have auto shufflers. If you get stuck on a table without one, then you will certainly see less hands/hr, but this isnt the norm.

The difference between Time charge and Rake for hands/hr is negligable. The speed/skill of the dealer is much more important. However, I think its safe to say that on average the Borgata dealers are faster.

I hypothesize that if you are tighter than the average player at your table, you are better off with rake. Also if you like to take breaks, then you will be better off paying rake.

The time charge is not bad, if you feel a bit nitty about it - go for the time pots if its a stable game - I paid $25 in total time for my six hours last Saturday.

How do time pots work for this game? How often do they do this? I dont play at Borgata much, but Ive never seen a time pot in the 2-5 game.

When I ran it this weekend, we did it at 200 and 400.

(First pot $200 or greater pays half the time, second the remainder, if the first pot is over $400, it pays full time).

Out of 8 or 9 time pot downs, only one took more than three hands to complete.

2/5 is never raked, always played for time collection. Time pot is a collective option within this - its practically standard at 5/10 NL, and some of the 2/5 regulars will run it there.

IMO I make out best in time pots, second being time collection, worst rake. Rake for winning 5 regular pots is equal to 4 timed downs, and I tend to win more than that on average. Time pots - I just play a little tighter or manage my pot size carefully - if I want to bet 1/2 pot at $100, I would bet $45 instead of $50 - that way if I'm called I don't pay.

Also, not a huge deal but be aware that the value of time pots decreases as the number of "dead stacks" at the table increases.
