Default $60 L8 Bubble

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (4 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

Button (t1925)
SB (t6785)
BB (t3205)
Hero (t1585)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero raises to t1200, Button raises to t1900, SB calls t1700, 1 fold, Hero folds.

i realize preflop is a little thin. i figured the table was just barely tight enough for this to be good. the bigstack is a regular who likes to pwn, so i think he will fold a decent amount because stacks are setup pretty nice for him.

I don't like the raise w/ J6. I wait it out and hope someone busts or I get a good hand.
As played folding seems good. I'm thinking these less than allin raises might be really good. It puts people in difficult spots.

I like it. I need to start leaving a little behind like this. I just never think of it.

why raise 1200 when you only have 1585? Fold or Push. Depending on everyone's calling ranges, should determine whether you push or fold... J6 seems like it might be pushable in this situation based on ICM... run it through SNG wiz...

now that icons do it a lot of people have stated to catch on... the button told me to go F myself after this hand, even though his AQ was > sb's TT.

when you do this less than allin raise you need to think about how much to open. you want to make it clear that you are calling a push pre (and getting it in on the flop), but you want to leave yourself as much behind as possible if you do fold. i probably would have been better opening to 1100 in this spot. and of course you need to this with all your monster hands as well.

this is the first time the less than allin raise worked for me (or at least semi-worked). i guess every once in awhile all three villians will go allin making a fold really easy. i guess it happens at least once a year...

You raise less than all in - in case this exact scenario comes up. Hero will gladly take 3rd here.

Interesting idea, as about raising , if you raise 3/4 of your stack thats only theoretical raise, actually its allin so there is no result difference, and if there is no difference, why not use from time to time. It can look like a tricky stupid suck bet with strong hand, and someone might fold some ace hed call allin with, it can be folded if all 3 go allin once a year, million other reasons
Ofcourse folding is out of the question, last chance to get some FE here.

I would have pushed it all here. This looks like a good situation, but you forced yourself to make a tough decision by not pushing all in. With pot odds and commitment, you have to call here though regardless, you have to call 385 to win a pot of 4800 getting better than 10-1, you have to call here.

I think some of you guys are missing the point of the less than all-in. It may look a little stronger, but mostly people are onto that by now. Mainly it's so we can fold and hopefully squeak into 3rd if two others wind up all in.

Ha, very intersting move. Too bad I don't think I can really apply this in the 6-man 3-person bubbles I play.
