Can I just check behind on this flop?
Villain in this hand thinks he plays well, and is tighter than average. I think he thinks I am too aggressive. Mainly he is there to gamble, and likes to win pots. He isn't wild or steamed though. I haven't seen him make any plays multiway, but I get a feeling that he might change it up HU, particularly against me.
I openraise JTo in the CO. Get called by an overdefender, who thinks for a while before calling. I am genuinely putting him on a weak hand. I don't think he's an actor. I give him any A, any K, 22-99, Any 2 connected. 2 suited cards where they are either semi connected or at least one of them is a jack or higher for his standard defending range. However since he thought about it, I think he probably doesn't have a pocket pair, 2 cards above an 8, or even a suited semi connector. Flop is KJ6 rainbow. He checks. I get a weird feeling like I am about to get checkraised, and I bet anyway, b/c stox says to, and I am a betting station. |

No [/ QUOTE ] Ok, here's my reasoning: He almost never has more than 3 outs against me if I am ahead. If I am behind, I get to induce action on the turn or river at my leisure, and I get to draw out if I am behind, or at least get to showdown cheaper. yes yes yes? |

Just bet for value. Save your flop checkthroughs for a hand like A3 on an A66 flop.

I bet the flop and the turn and maybe check behind on the river. Mabye I'm weak.

I think he thinks I am too aggressive. [/ QUOTE ] prob because you are. which is fine, but that image allows you to value pound in spots like this. if he thinks you are nutty you miss value checking. bet and call down. |

Re: Can I just check behind on this flop?
Ok, so you get check-raised, it's one small bet. You could then 3-bet, if you like, and he'll likely, if he has anything, just call and then check to you on the turn. Not a bad scenario for you.
