Default Breeder\'s Cup future. Sweet price wont last long.

Lear's Princess is 8-1 to win the BC Distaff at Bodog and those odds wont make it into Wed night. A sweet price for the horse that just beat Rags to Riches and is likely the top F/M in the conutry. The race is Oct 27 only a month away. She is very much going to be the favorite or second choice with her best odds of maybe 5-2.
Of course betting horse futures is risky with injuries and possible illness. But Lear's at 8-1 is a dream price.

BC day is a crap shoot, I will rarely take 8-1 on the day of the races, let alone 5 weeks in advance.

I must be missing something. That horse isn't even listed on betus, and is +600 in a field with absolutely ridiculous juice on WSEX. On sportingbet.com.au, which has juice of over 100%, Lear's is 7:1. 8:1 may be the best odds available, but it hardly looks like a value bet, based on the market.

I consider it a value bet if I get 8-1 and she goes of at 5-2.

I also agree with Bishop that BC day is a crap shoot. But foriegners rarely win the Distaff and the Distaff is the most form full race in my opinion. We'll see what happens.

I prefer to think Lears Princess is a horse to beat at the BC. She ran a not so hot race against Rags considering Rags came out injured. LP could only just beat a top caliber injured horse that hasn't run since June with a sustained pace sceneraio unfolding with the slowest 1/4 and pace call of the day at Belmont. I'd use LP in the 3/4 postion of a super or tri where she'll not see much action on those tickets except for the crazies that are going to box LP up.

Don't forget the race is still several weeks away. Anything can happen to your pick between now and then, and, if she doesn't run in the race, you'll get 8-1 on a 0-1 shot.
