Good point QTip. I think you are right. But I think in NL10 where the average stack is something like 30BB's I need to loosen up and play more aggressively and steal blinds as I can't wait for the nuts since I'd be blinded away, so its easier to fold mediocre hands like TPGK in NL5.

I do play quite loose at NL5 (something like 27/7), mainly because of the implied odds that you mention.

based on your roll and your poor track record stick to 5nl until you have 20 buyins for 10nl. you need to demonstrate to yourself the discipline to be a winning player. good luck

However, last night I saw that the max buyin for 5NL and 10NL is the same, 10$. I also noticed that the number of people sitting with $10 at 5NL tables was close to the same as at $10NL.

Thanks for the tip! I'm thinking of moving up, even though I feel I'm not a great player at my level - but because of the short stacks and lack of bonus opportunities. I might actually move down and play the NL5 on stars for a while. I think it might be very profitable to play those games, as I think the play in NL5 is much weaker than in NL10 and also NL5 plays a lot deeper which noobs don't understand, and if they buy for 250BB's instead of 125BB's then these points get even stronger. Although it might be wise to hear the opinions of someone who has actually played NL5 on stars

I played 10k hands at 5NL on stars and the bonus doesn't really clear at that level. I played 10k hands at 2NL and then 5NL to get a basic foundation before I moved to 10NL.

At 5NL you get around one fpp per 50ish hands and at 10NL you seem to be getting one per every 20ish hands. If you looking to clear bonus, then the .10 game is better. If your looking to learn the basics then 5NL will be a bit easier than 10NL.

From what I seen, the full $10 stacks in the .05 game were the better players at that level. They can be played out of a stack but its not as easy as the complete donks that are also at the table. The donks seem to have the smallest stacks at the table and for good reason.

If you buy in for $10 at the .05 game you will have the best of both worlds. You can stack the smaller donk stacks and when a full stacked tag flops an overpair, your set will stack him as well.
