Re: NL25: OverPr vs CRAI on Turn
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the replies. In the end, he had A6o. I gave him my stack. I have been struggling lately between betting the turn and checking behind. It seems as though when I bet for value I end up getting all my chips in with the worst of it. The times that I ckeck behind, I end up winning small pots. Running a little bad at the moment and trying to figure out the right balance between not being overly nitty and extracting value. [/ QUOTE ] Whether or not to be this turn is very often opponent specific. If he is passive enough that you know a c/r means you are beat, and he still has some calling hands in his range, then betting is better. If he is aggressive such that he will c/r you with a range that includes some bluffs then you aren't so sure how to react and you will make mistakes. If he is aggressive enough to c/r the turn with bluffs then he is probably aggressive enough to bluff the river with anything he called the flop with if you check the turn. In that case checking the turn is better because it allows you to avoid mistakes and will make him make mistakes. FWIW, I think you could have raised more preflop to reach a good SPR. In a 3-bet pot your SPR lowers so I think 4 is your target SPR against a loose player. If you raise to $2 or $2.5 you should be in good shape. If he is loose, which I assume he is, then he will be almost as likely to call those so you aren't losing much. If you raised that much you could have just taken a bet-bet line and that is that. |
