Default 25NL - J9 flops second pair against two loose-passives

CO is 55/0/0.6 after 30+ hands. BB has similar stats but less hands.

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

Hero (SB): $24.50
BB: $25.27
UTG: $24.67
CO: $7.30
BTN: $10.25

Preflop: Hero is dealt 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG folds, CO calls $0.25, BTN folds, Hero calls $0.15, BB checks

Flop: ($0.75) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 Players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO checks

Turn: ($0.75) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players)
Hero bets $0.50, BB folds, CO calls $0.50

River: ($1.75) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, CO bets $2.00, Hero?

Should I have betted again on the river? Would checking it induce a bluff from such a villain?

I'd fold or raise pre-flop, most likely fold, because as you can see this kind of hand is very difficult to play OOP against loose-passive players. Generally I bet into these players until they show resistence or the pot gets too big, but OOP this can be a disadavantage becuase when the pot gets too big and you opt for a check they can steal it.

As played I might just lead flop (fold to a raise), maybe turn, then give up..

I'm not sure if you missed it but since we are in the small blind I think folding is bad. I never raise preflop in this spot and always calls if its limped to me.

On river I think you have to fold in this spot unless you saw him get out of line. A 1 dollar bet could be good also to get to a cheap showdown assuming he only raises when he has the nuts.

I didn't miss it. As I said I don't like to be OOP with this type of hand. Only one person has limped infront of me so it isn't like the price is too good to pass. I'm learning too, so perhaps my what I do is incorrect.

Is completing standard here?

No I like a fold preflop. Fairly confident calling here is a leak most people have.

As played check/folding the river seems good.
