No love for De La Soul?
Also, I guess I'm retarded because my iTunes says I listen to MM more than LET. |

No love for De La Soul? [/ QUOTE ] I like to point out that Buhloone Mind State is a very underrated album. Question I posed to Soul Daddy - What's the general rap fan consensus on Tribe? I am a casual rap fan, but really liked Tribe back in the day (also think Low End Theory is better, but I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Electric Relaxation). Maybe there's some East Coast bias in there, I was listening to them when I lived in NJ/CT/NY. I even own Q-Tip solo albums (they are not that good). -Al |

Same question (not to derail this thread but am listening to "Quality" right now so was curious) about Talib Kweli...

Re: Old School Rap Questions
Rap fans generally dig Tribe, save for Beats, Rhymes and Life, which is pretty suspect.
I have a theorum that states that almost every hip-hop group ever with 4 plus albums got better with the 2nd release and then got much worse with each subsquent album. Outkast potentially being the only exception. People are more mixed on Kweli. He gets points from coffee shop heads for his topics, but up until his most recent stuff his delivery has been really iffy to me. It took him years to not sound just flat nervous on the mic. |

Re: Old School Rap Questions
Have you got Eardrum yet? It sounds much more commercial. Just look at Hot Thing ft Wil.i.am, it sounds like it was made to be popular. I have to say that even though this album is still fresh Id put it up there with his best works. Kweli stuff for me goes - Black Star > Quality > Eardrum > Reflection Eternal > Beautiful Struggle
obv Mos Def helps make blackstar my favourite but still Kweli held his own on it. |

Re: Old School Rap Questions
Wu-Tang fails the test because Enter the 36 is better than anything by a huge margin, unless you count the solos and then it gets confusing.
