$2500 live MTT: AJ on the bubble...
Recent hand of a friend of mine, just want to get some more discussion on it.
On the bubble (37 left, 36 pay). Blinds 1500/3000 w/500 ante. Hero [27000], raises from MP with AJ. Folds to villain [24000]. Villain (very large range) moves all-in. Hero calls and Villain shows AQ. Hero is crippled on the bubble. Was this the correct play? IMO, no. If he's going to try and cash, I believe folding is the correct play here. Otherwise, I believe shoving here is better than raising 33% of your stack and committing yourself. I feel it's better to be the one shoving all your chips in, than calling them off bad. On the bubble like this though, I doubt I'd be looking to play AJ. I'd be more apt to wait for a better hand to shove with and let some of the shorter stacks worry about going all-in to stay alive. |

In the bubble, you want to be the one gets in first and a push here would probably get AQo fold if your bubble image is not too loose and your stack covers villains. |
