Default nl100 weird SB limp raise

villan is 22.3/17.7/2.09 w/ 1.5k hands, but is a losing player in this smallish sample.

i have been around for an orbit or two and havn't gotten out of line.

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $121.75
Hero (BB): $121.85
UTG: $48.00
BTN: $95.90

Preflop: Hero is dealt 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 Players)
2 folds, SB calls $0.50, Hero raises to $4.00, SB raises to $12.00, Hero calls $8.00

my thought here was that he didn't like me trying to pick up his SB so he figured he'd raise me up to battle the raise. I didn't think a player w/ 22.4/18/2.17 mined stats would take a line like this very often w/ a big hand

Flop: ($24) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
SB bets $15.00, Hero raises to $58.00, SB raises all-in to $109.75, Hero folds

then the standard CB and my raise to test the waters. in my eyes i show him here that i'm committed to the hand and should get bluffs/sneaky played preflop pairs to fold, but then he pushes and i think my hand now is pretty dominated by the range that he's representing

what do you guys think? i'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this cause i'm gettin damn good odds to call

wow. i don't know what to say.

you should fold preflop unless you have some sort of good read that he'll make this move alot preflop with weaker hands and we'll give up alot on the flop.

you're getting 4-1 on the flop. you have to call now...meh.

Just float the flop. It looks stronger and lets you bluff cheaper if villain checks to you on the turn, as well as lets you hit a 5 outer or turn a gutter/oesd which makes a semibluff more attractive. It's not as likely he looks you up with a pair < aces either because calling flop and betting turn in a RR pot here looks strong.

As played...I mean, you've now left yourself getting 3.7:1 and you're a 3.6:1 dog against AK. Getting yourself into this spot is just gross; either make a way bigger raise so that you exercise more FE and don't have a tough decision here, or raise smaller so that you can get away from your hand, but now it almost doesn't matter if you call or fold and you cost yourself a ton of money to get to this point.

Preflop is meh, you can fold or call, I've also been experimenting with smallish 4bets in spots like this, I think it's fairly neutral either way. Although, if you're gonna frequently get into spots postflop where you're gonna spew, just fold.

I like a flat on the flop. Just thought that if I flatted the flop he'd be opt to fire again and I wouldn't really know where I stand.. But thinking about it, I doubt he fires a lot on the turn w/ anything less than AK, but I don't really know the villan well enough.

Either way, I appriciate the thoughtful response
