Default Variance related to buyin? STT, MTT

I've been struggling over the last two months in such a roller coaster mode that I'm starting to think I'm seeing more "bad beats" and more negative variance because of the low limit I play. Now I understand that yes, 'worse' players play at lower limits, hence the low limit title...but is there really any correlation?

Anybody else experience this? Or am I simply going through a "negative variance feedback phase" right now and need to just bear with it?

I play mostly 'Stars $5.50, $11 STT and some MTTs.

I only feel this way because of the few $22's I have played in, I've done better then I honestly expected to and it felt like my opponents were playing better poker. A lot less 3-4 calls of a 4BB raise from an EP. Maybe those few times they were just weak-tight, who knows.

But it is annoying whatever I'm going through right now.
