Wrestlers get this all the time too. A buddy who wrestled in college told me that they would just drain their own ears with sterile needles provided by the trainers. Apparently it's not that big of a deal. There too some of the guys were convinced this was some badge of honor and never drained.

It's not just blood but like a clear fluid, I've got a little bit of one on my right ear in a spot where they couldn't drain it well but you can't really notice it unless someone points it out. And it's not a big deal.
