Re: What\'s with the no kids guilt trip?
Mete -
Really? It seems with a tax-free $500k you could hire full-time child care for the first 10-12 years and still make a tidy profit with proper investments. |

Re: What\'s with the no kids guilt trip?
I am 40 years old and female and have never, even for one second, wanted a child. Most of my friends have kids, and of course I like them. I don't want any of my own. The thing I find strange is that even at this point in my life, people tell me I still have time. I think I would have known by now if I wanted any.

The morality of reproduction does not hinge on overpopulation or using up the planet's scarce resources. According to this philosophy, committing suicide is the greatest contribution a person can make. [/ QUOTE ] By this logic contraception is the equivalent of murder. |

Re: What\'s with the no kids guilt trip?
I don't want kids either. I recently started a thread about not wanting to date single moms because of this. I don't want my own kid, or anyone else's. I actually felt guilty about telling a woman I dated 4 times I didn't want to see her anymore after she told me about her child. She waited until the 4th date.
The thing is that at this stage in my life, I am not looking for just a good time, but a life partner. I tried to break it off as nicely as possible, and thought I was being a good guy by not seeing her just to fool around. She really went off on me, about how I didn't know what I was missing, how she was a good catch, I would regret it, etc. etc. - she acted like I was the biggest jerk in the world for not wanting to see her anymore. I tried to remain a nice guy, didn't point out she waited almost 3 weeks to tell me about the kid. She also let me know right away that she didn't have a lot of money, so I paid for everything all four dates. I think I had the right to be upset, not her. Of course, I see it from my pov, and she sees it from hers. |

I would like to have kids b/c I would be an incredible dad (srsly), but it's still easy for me to understand why many don't want children. Anyways, here is a question: say there was government program that offered incentives to stable, educated, intelligent couples to procreate. Assume that you would qualify. How much would the incentive need to be to have a child when you wouldn't have previously? [/ QUOTE ] I think there's some ... oh here it is: http://missourifamilies.org/features...raisechild.htm |

One of the good things though is that by having a kid you get to sightly skew the statistics. When I have my three children in the future, there will be three more vegans in the world, Take that Carnivores! [/ QUOTE ] I'm going to have four children to make up for your vegan freaks. Three of my kids will eat your three. The fourth will be a vegan to keep the circle of life going. Someone has to be at the bottom of the cannibalistic food chain! |

Re: What\'s with the no kids guilt trip?
I hate children. They are annoying and stupid, but if you aren't incredibly nice to them people think you're a sociopath.
I really can't see my mentality on this changing. And if it does, I'll just get a cat. |
