Default Post flop when you miss

Which is more profitable? 6 handed game, assume you have a hand Like AJO, AQO, KQO, raised preflop and are called by two players. Rags flop, rainbow. Against players that will call a hand down with second or bottom pair and they check to you. Is it better to check and take the free card, or bet hoping to get one of the two out?

I have a hard time playing these hands. I hate to check and give them a free card, but it seems if you bet out and miss, you will often get shown down with bottom or middle pair.
