People who choose to play their hand do so to contest who wins the antes, but if you choose to play and lose, you have to put double the pot in for the next round.

If the hand is contested by one person only, they take the antes and everyone re-antes.

No doubt. There was a comment saying that it's impossible to eliminate position and that "someone always has to act first". I was making the point that Guts completely eliminates position. Of course you have to play with progressive antes, where everyone antes if no one goes in. That way the pot builds and builds and everyone starts thinking to themselves "ZOMG Ace high is good!" and the tears begin.

Antes > blinds. In fact I would stucture a game such that the better the position, the greater the ante, so that the expectation would be identical from all positions. i.e. sb puts 1, bb puts 2, utg puts 3 ... button puts 8 or whatever.
