BB hand - middle pocket pair with overcard on flop
live $3/6 game. my table is a little more nitty than usual, but still fairly loose pf.
6 players limp, i raise with 88 in BB, all call. Flop: J 7 5 rainbow I bet, 4 calls, button raises, i call as do other callers. I check-fold turn blank. is this okay? should i just check flop? i kinda like betting out on flop here in part because in the future when i have kings in this spot, they will still raise me. |

Re: BB hand - middle pocket pair with overcard on flop
i wouldn't raise pf because of your bad position and not really being a huge favorite, but it's not a big deal either way.
the rest of it seems fine; you could argue for just folding to the flop raise (there's a similar 44 thread going) but you have good position and implieds if you spike. |

Re: BB hand - middle pocket pair with overcard on flop
I think you would want to call the flop raise almost always because there is now 21 SBs in there and it is rare that you will see the four callers not call one more bet.
Of course, things can go wrong. A c/r after we call would not be helpful. |
