i wish we could just play STL the rest of the season [/ QUOTE ] I gladly point out to all the Cardinals fans I know that if the Cubs only played the Cardinals for the whole season, then the Cubs would have the best record in baseball. |

how do you get 20 guys on base and score 4? [/ QUOTE ] You swing at bad pitches with 2-0 and 3-0 counts. I felt physically ill watching that last night. |

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
On a positive note, our bullpen was tearing it up last night.
Hopefully Pittsburgh holds on and Hill pitches well tonight, so we can get back to 1st for a day before Trachsel gets shelled tomorrow. |

[Hey Joe], how do you get 20 guys on base and score 4? - Your Mom, 2+2 forum [/ QUOTE ] Getting a bunch of people on base is'nt whats goingto win you ballgames. That's the thing. So many of the young peopel today coming from Harvard and things are misunderstanding hitting. Getting on base isn't enough you have to know what to do when you are on base like such as messing up the timing of the pitcher and stealing bases and sacrificing and breaking up double plays like we used to play in the 70s. What happened was people read Billy Bean's book Moneyball and misunderstood these new stats like on-base percentate and this OPS stuff, which doesn't win you ballgames. Playing the game the right way and hustling does. Getting on base is great but you ca'nt clog the basepaths and win and be consistent. Gary Sheffield. - Joe Mor(g)an. |

You forgot to mention you haven't seen any of these teams that are getting on base actually play a game this year.
