This seems to have generated a fair amount of discussion
All three players also flopped flushes, and MINE WAS IN LAST PLACE!

EP had Ax [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Blind had Kx [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
MP had Qx [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Wow. So there's about a 1:115,207,000 chance of that happening. You should play the lotto.

EP should play the lottery... I lost!

Thanks for running the math everone.
I didn't actually fold the turn, and payed off EP's bet on the river, as did everyone else. I've been thinking that this is probably the "strangest" hand I've seen in approximately 9 months of play. True story tho, 100%

That's what I'm trying to refute. IT IS NOT A 100:1 SHOT ANYMORE ONCE THE FLOP IS MONOTONE!!!!!!!! You seem to struggle with this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Scarmiglio,

Please read what was typed. The word "that" refers to the period of time before the flop when it was over a 100:1.

You will notice that I give you enough credit for having intelligence that I find it unnecessary to use capital letters, nor do I find it necessary to use trite condecending phrases.

You lose to a lot of things that are not the nuts.

And we beat plenty of things that play the hand similarly. I think plenty of (bad) players are pushing the hell out of a set or two pair or the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] draw. Additionally, most of the players I've seen flop a nut flush will habitually slowplay it...if we are up against another flush, I think it's more likely that it's a baby one trying to protect...

Do you automatically show down any time your AJo hits an A high flop because "Why did I play this hand if I didn't want to flop top pair?"

[/ QUOTE ]

No, but then again last time I looked a flush ranked significantly higher than top pair in the hand rankings.

I don't think any of this is true in this particular case. Sure, some people will jam with top set or two pair here, but when 2 or 3 other people like their hands enough to jam right along with them, all but the wildest players are going to show some hesitation on a monotone flop. No one here has shown any hesitation, any fear of the flush at all. The only possible hand that doesn't fear the flush here is itself a flush.

In regards to slowplaying, the reason people slowplay is to encourage action with their hand. As soon as OTHER players start betting, 3-betting, and capping, the purpose of slowplaying is completely gone and most players will start throwing in raises of their own in hopes of capping it.

In fact, if you look back at the original post, this is EXACTLY what happened. EP originally checked the nut flush on the flop and then threw in a raise after several other people got it up to 3-bets. So, by your own argument, we had EVERY REASON to suspect that the nut flush might be hiding out there someone.
