Whenever I do something I consider heartless/selfish that harms someone else, I try do many positive/selfless things for others to sort of balance the karma.

Seriously though, staying in a relationship like that is no good for either of you. She needs help and you obviously arent that help. Staying together longer is just going to make you feel shittier, and make things much more complicated for her. She needs to sober up and find a psychiatrist before geting into any sort of serious relationship. I really dont know you as a aperson at all, but often people like this are just latching on to the first person in their life, not really the best one. Unlatch her before things get to deep so she can get her [censored] together.

Hi milesdyson. Whatever else is true, you two clearly don't fit together at this point in your lives. Don't be too hard on yourself. From experience, I don't think it's possible to have a close relationships with an alcoholic for any length of time without ending up doing things you're not proud of in retrospect. Which unfortunately doesn't absolve you of blame. Or free you from regret. Life is complicated sometimes. Hang in there brother.
