Re: (78) 88 awkward potential
I think 150-200 are basically the same. It won't make postflop harder.

[ QUOTE ] why make it too cheap for them to play? why give them better odds? 50 more makes us 50 more when opponent misses the flop which is probably around 75% of the time. i wouldnt really want him to stay in the pot when i had raised to 150. [/ QUOTE ] If you want to discourage him from calling so much wouldn't it make more sense to just shove? You talk about getting more value by raising to 200, but raising more just may cause him to fold some of the weakish hands we dominate, so you really aren't getting more value. I just think if you're gonna make it 200 you may as well just shove. You either make it 150 for value or shove to take it down. [/ QUOTE ] okay, i want to make one thing clear. The EV is probably really close either way and it really depends on the style of play. But since you argued for a bet of 150 or shove, i'll argue for the 200. As mentioned before, shoving will be giving up too much value. He's folding to a shove 95% of the time. 88 is a very strong hand bvb. We are not going to shove JJ here. Why make it 200 instead of 150? Making it 200 leaves villian 700 left so you can stack him easier. You gain that extra 50 most of the time. You also fold out hands like J2, narrowing villian's range. The reasons are marginal, but I don't think shoving is the best play. I think 150 is okay, but I'd do 200. |

Re: (78) 88 awkward potential
i like to give villain the chance to make a bigger mistake instead of a small one.
