Default 89s

Hollywood Park 2-5 NL
Villian is straight ahead abc player....too predictable, i have a good table image but i dont know if any1 else is paying attention...the previous hand i limped rasied a guy who made it 10 to 80....6 callers to a flop of q86r..Villian moved in 300 w QJs i called with AA and he caught a Q on the river.
Anyway on to the hand villian(700) limps under the gun 3 more limpers i limp in the cutoff with 89s(i cover). flop 984r....check to me i bet 25, all fold to vilian who crs to 125 i insta call....turn 6 he moves all in@575.....i go into the tank and muck.

Hmmmm - I don't get it. What could he have to be cring you with that flop. 2-pair, trips? But certainly not a gut draw!
Even a OE draw seems unlikey. You have top pair and 6 outs to
a full boat - I'd have put him at trips and probably folded after the CR. Else I'd have raised another $75 or so to see
if he really had trips. If he came back stronger, I fold for sure. At least you know where you are. Calling there
doesn't give you any info on what to do on turn. Your raise
maybe would prompt him to call then check on the turn - maybe river, too - and you may get to draw to your boat.I think the call after the CR was the mistake.

I think I do the same.

People can't just say "if you were folding the turn, then fold the flop."

The OP gains more information by the villains turn bet. I like the flop call and turn fold.

What are you afraid of on the flop, 44?

99 and 88 aren't very possible due to your holding.

What if villain has TT+?

I can't believe folding this on the flop, much less the turn.

If it were me, I would bomb the flop, but I suck.

wait a second, i'm confused. is it the same villain in both hands you mentioned? cause i doubt a straight forward player moves in with TPWK in a 5 way raised pot
