Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I've heard of a home-game rule where you can make a wrap-around straight - e.g. JQKA2. I heard that someone didn't realize that it was just a home game rule and played that hand in a b&m, expecting win with a str8 when he just had A high. [/ QUOTE ] So what does a wraparound straight beat regarding other straights? e.g. JQKA2? Is that a 2 high straight? J high straight? [/ QUOTE ] good point...who teh f knows. Thats why people dont usually play this [censored]. rofl |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
The first time I ever played with my dad he asked about the no check-raise rule and I told him he was crazy.
He's a fish anyway. |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
I've played in a donk fest where in heads up, the dealer was the big blind.
At another home game of a family members, they stop the game when it gets down to three players, and award the money to chip leader. |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
I don't even really understand the objection to check raises. (I mean, I know that no serious player objects to them, but...)
Basically they are complaining, "Hey, by check raising, you were trying to TRICK me!" What game do they think they are playing, anyway? |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
I had some buddies that used to run a game. They would get like 16 regularly, $20 buy in.
The rule was the aggresor is the first to act.(if you raised the pot you are first to act, I later asked, the host said, "because I like to be the first to act at the pot) Ok there goes position play. The other gay one was that you played the 2 tables until the final 7 or 8 (whatever they had as final table I cant remember) There was one time we had 3 while they still had 6 and wouldn't make the move to balance tables. It was pathetic as they had a good thing going they were gaining people for this thing but they just had no idea and it finally died out. They were a bunch of fish who thought they were good. I would dominate that game. Had my share of bad beats though. I have to thank them. I went there seen like 14 people playing poker I bought in, got smoked. 6 months later I came back and rocked it from then on. I basically learned how to play. Now I am a 14 bb/100 player. Thanks suckers. lol |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
I heard about a game where in High spade down gets half the pot in 7 card stud. Anyhow, if you got dealt a high spade you were expected to bet, were not allowed to slow play you high spade

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
Viejas casino has a 'beginner table' w/ no check raising allowed. Can't remember the buy in but I'm sure it's cheap.
And I've seen guys think they have wrap around straights: it's hysterical. |

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
How about someone folding their straight because their kicker wasn't any good.

Re: Wacky Home Game Rules?
"High spade in the hole wins half the pot"....They called that Chicago in Rounders, right? No mention of the betting rule though.
