There was talk when he first came up that the day off per inning pitched rule applied before each outing also. If that's true, they did break the rules tonight because he only had one day off then threw two innings.

[/ QUOTE ]

He had two calendar days off? The yankees had an off day and he didn't pitch in the last game of the Seattle series. What am I missing?

honest question, and not a troll job:

how long do the yankees stick with jeter at ss? his zone rating is at .762, easily the worst in the majors and the worst of his less than stellar defensive career...any chance he becomes a cf'er? him and arod switch? interested to hear yankee fans view of his future on the team.

I don't know where Jeter's ego is at, but I have marvelled as a distinctly non-Yankee fan at how it is that A-Rod isn't at shortstop. Jeter right now reminds me a lot of Ripken late in his career when he was resisting a move to third base.

Maybe in the last few years of his career he'll move to 3B but I doubt a move to the OF would ever happen. Most Yankee FANS honestly think he's a gold glover (obviously excluding most of the guys on 2p2 and the other stat nerds out there) so it isn't like anybody is calling for him to move. But what is interesting is Cashman is a Sabermetrics guy. Just look at the EDWAAAAAAAARRR signing. So he HAS to know Jeter sucks at SS and it is really hurting his team. But if they moved Cal I suppose they could move Jeter. But I don't think OF would ever happen.

Arod could prob go back and be a solid SS but I doubt he would be great. He has gained more muscle and weight while at 3rd so he would have to lose all that which would affect his hitting.

I doubt Arod would even be league average at SS anymore. His skills have eroded.

actually, Ripken was still well above average at SS when he moved. A-Rod is the better comparison to Ripken than Jeter.

the thing is, jeter is so ridiculously far from league average it would still be an upgrade. not today, obviously, but if arod stays, how could the yankees not seriously consider telling him to get into shortstop shape?
